What is discussed at the cake tasting appointment? Guests will meet with a coordinator to discuss flavor options, tier sizes, pricing, and decoration. Guests may place orders at this time.
Is there a charge for a cake tasting appointment? No, cake tasting appointments are complimentary. The guest may choose up to four flavors to sample during the appointment.
When are cake tasting appointments available? Cake tasting appointments can be scheduled on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm. Appointments are based on availability.
Is an appointment required to place an order? Yes, all orders are placed by appointment only. We do not accept walk-in orders. If the guest did not place an order during the initial consultation, a second appointment is required. This ensures that a coordinator is available to assist the guest.
TIER CAKE ORDER GUIDELINES
When should guests place an order for a tier cake? We recommend placing a tier cake order 4-6 weeks prior to the event. A minimum of a 2-week notice is required for all tier cakes, if it can be accommodated.
What type of payment is required to place an order? A 25% deposit is required to secure the order and date of event. The full balance is due 2 weeks prior to the event.
What is our cancellation policy? To receive a full refund, the order must be cancelled 2 weeks prior to the event. If cancellation is less than 2 weeks prior to the event, the 25 % deposit is no longer refundable.
Can tier cakes be delivered? Yes, all deliveries require an additional charge. Tier cakes can be delivered between 9am and 5:15pm to addresses within our delivery range. Deliveries require a one hour time frame (ex. 3-4pm). All deliveries after 5:15pm will be charged an additional $10.
Delivery: What needs to be ready at the reception site? The cake table needs to be set up prior to the scheduled delivery time. Someone needs to be present at the reception site to sign off on our driver.
For Cake Toppers: Place the cake topper on the cake table prior to delivery. Our driver can place the topper on the cake at time of delivery.
Can tier cakes be picked up? Yes, tier cakes can be picked up. However, we highly recommend delivering 3-tiered cakes or larger. Requirements for pick-up: The vehicle should be large with a flat level surface (a trunk or floor board). Please do not place the cake on an angled seat. Please do not attempt to hold the cake box on a lap. Keep the air conditioning turned on to keep the cake cool. Drive carefully. Take care to avoid any sudden stops or turns.
Can our tier cakes be decorated with fondant? No, our cakes are too light and fluffy to withstand the weight of fondant. Instead, we use non-dairy whip cream as the outside frosting for all tier cakes.
Can non-dairy whip cream be tinted? Yes, our non-dairy whip cream can be tinted to match the decor of the event. We recommend lighter colors as they blend well into our non-dairy whip cream.
Can guests submit their own cake design? Yes, guests may submit their own design. However, all designs are subject to decorator approval. King's Hawaiian is not liable for any damages caused by the florist.
Can guests proivde King's Hawaiian with their own flowers? Yes. Fresh flowers must be received 2 days prior to the event.
Cake Stand Rentals:
Are cake stands available for rental? Yes, we offer cake stands in square and round options in varying sizes and colors. Cake stands are based on availability. There is a non-refundable charge of $40 and a refundable deposit of $100 for a total of $140.
When should rented cake stands be returned to King's Hawaiian? All cake stands must be returned complete, usable, and clean within 5 days after the event to receive the $100 refundable deposit.
